On September 18th, exactly a month later from her release of debut studio album, “Snow Angel”, Renee´ Rapp made it a memorable night in Austin, Texas at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. Being her third and last show in Texas for her “Snow Hard Feelings” tour, she played songs off the album that have been heard live only a few times. Being a year shy off her last music release, EP, “Everything to Everyone” on November 11th, 2022, hits like “Too Well” and “In the Kitchen” remained in her tour setlist, alongside with single “Tattoos”.
Towa Bird started off the evening as one of the opening acts, setting the energy level at a high from the beginning, singing a few of her personal songs “This isn’t me”, “Wild Heart” and “Boomerang”, while absolutely dominating the electric guitar. Jumping in the air, swinging her curly hair, with the crowd absorbing the great energy. Alexander 23 followed along as the second supporting act, with a slightly calmer passion that dives into the human experience. Performing some of his work, “Cosplay”, “Girl”, “Crash” and a unique taken on a One Direction cover of “Steal my Girl”. Ending his set with a fan favorite, “IDK you yet”, with the crowd waving their phone’s flashlights in the air in unison.
Before Rapp entered the stage, the beautiful props displayed on the floor provided a feeling of peace and transported the crowd into a makeshift forest, with flowers on grassy rocks, warm lighting and visuals of her as a child, that emphasized that sense of comfort. With the initial song “Talk too much”, it electrified the environment from the start.
The setlist being purposely constructed around the weather seasons, that categorized her songs that closely related or felt in that manner. Spring was made up of three tracks, “Talk too much”, “Poison Poison” and “Willow”. It continued with Summer, “Colorado”, “Pretty Girls”, “23” and with Towa Bird who joined Rapp on stage, with an exhilarating duo performance of “Tummy Hurts”. Closing into the end, the Fall season consisted of “I Hate Boston”, “So What Now”, “Tattoos” and “Too Well”. The night coming to a finish with the last season of Winter, the most lyrically melancholic works of hers, “Gemini Moon”, “The Wedding Song”, “In the Kitchen”, “Snow Angel” and a sit down with Alexander 23 for “I wish”, with him on acoustic.
The special relationship between Rapp and her fans was very evident that night, plenty of interaction that included reading fun and silly signs, wearing a customized cowboy hat on her head and keeping eye contact. Her success is a testament the to the immense talent and dedication she carries within herself and in the entertainment industry.
